A charger on your wall by the afternoon
Most home jobs are one fitter, one van and one working day. You have the price in writing before anyone drills, and you pay nothing until the car is charging.
Fit only, at 5,900 kr, is for a charger you have already bought. Supply and fit, at 12,400 kr, brings an 11 kW three phase wall charger from a mid range European maker. Both include up to 10 m of cable from your fuse board, the day's work, testing and the clean-up afterwards.
Longer cable runs, fuse board work and load management for a heat pump are listed line by line on the full price list, so you can work out most of your own quote before we arrive.
Before any price
The visit
We do not price a charger from a photo alone. We come and look, and these are the four things that go in the notebook:
- The size of your main fuse, and what else already leans on it, such as a heat pump or an induction hob.
- The age of your fuse board, whether it has a free space, and whether its earth leakage protection suits a car.
- What the outside wall is made of: brick, render, timber cladding or something older and softer.
- The cable route from the board to where the car parks, measured in metres, with every wall, floor and stretch of lawn on the way.
The visit is free inside Aalborg Kommune. Elsewhere in our 45 km radius, out to Hobro, Støvring and Brønderslev, it is 450 kr, and that comes straight off the job if you book us.
We book the visit within 5 working days of your email, and the fixed written price follows within 2 working days of the visit. It holds for 60 days. To start, write to us at hello@voltlara.com with a photo of your fuse board.
One fitter, one working day
The day
The day is usually booked 2 to 3 weeks after you accept the price, and a home job takes one fitter four to six hours.
- 07:30
- We arrive, walk the cable route with you and agree the exact spot on the wall.
- Morning
- The hole is drilled and sleeved, the cable pulled and clipped, and the charger goes up at 1.2 m.
- About 40 minutes
- The power is off while we connect at the board. We tell you before it goes, so the freezer and the router are no surprise.
- Mid afternoon
- Everything is tested, your car is plugged in and charging, and we sweep up and take the offcuts with us.
Every cable we pull gets a small coral tag at the fuse board end with the date and the words car charger. Whoever opens your board in twenty years will know which breaker feeds the car without switching anything off to find out.
There is no deposit on a home job. You pay by bank transfer within 8 days of the job being finished, and the amount is the one on the quote. What each extra costs is on the price list.
Three houses we see every week
Which house are you?
Most homes around Aalborg fall into one of these. The figures are what we usually find, not a quote. Your own price is fixed in writing after the visit.
Detached with a drive
The board is in the garage or the utility room, and the drive runs past the same wall. This is the job we do most often, from Hasseris to Gistrup.
- Typical cable
- 4 to 10 m, all of it inside the standard price.
- Typical price
- 12,400 kr supplied and fitted, or 5,900 kr if the charger is already in your hallway.
- What complicates it
- An older board with no free space or the wrong earth leakage breaker, at 1,800 to 4,200 kr. A heat pump on the same main fuse, where load management at 2,200 kr stops the two tripping it together on a cold evening.
Terraced, street parking
The board is usually at the back of the house and the car stands at the front, so the cable has the depth of the house to travel.
- Typical cable
- 10 to 18 m, clipped along the outside wall or run through the house.
- Typical price
- 12,400 to about 14,100 kr, with 210 kr for each metre past the first 10.
- What complicates it
- The charger goes on your own front wall, which only helps if the car can stand beside it most evenings. We talk that through at the visit before you spend anything. If you rent, we need written permission from your landlord first.
Farmhouse with a long yard
The board is in the old house and the car stands by the barn, often a long way across gravel or grass.
- Typical cable
- 20 to 50 m, most of it dug in.
- Typical price
- About 19,300 kr for a 20 m run and about 40,000 kr for 50 m, with the trench at 690 kr a metre. Every per metre rate is on the price list.
- What complicates it
- Cobbles and paving, which we price on site because no two yards are laid the same. Boards that are as old as the farmhouse wiring. And thatch, which we route round, never through.
Said plainly, before you ask
What we turn down at home
Each of these comes down to the same test: if it would worry us in ten years, we would rather lose the job today.
- Cable runs through thatched roofs. We leave the board low, cross the wall near the ground and climb the outside, never up through the loft and the reed.
- Rented homes without written permission from your landlord. Bring the letter and we will gladly come.
- Chargers from unknown online sellers with no European safety marking. We look at the box with you before we drill, and if the marking is missing, the charger stays in its box.
- Extension leads and plug-in arrangements that have quietly become permanent. We take those out rather than wire them in.
- Rapid DC chargers and anything above 22 kW. That is a different trade with different equipment.
- Evening and weekend call-outs. We work Monday to Thursday 07:00 to 15:30 and Friday until 13:00.
Solar panels and home batteries we will wire to, but we do not sell or mount them. If yours are going up soon, say so at the visit so the board is planned with them in mind. Running a clinic or a workshop instead? Workplace jobs run differently.
